Building awareness for what World Water Day stands for means a lot to us at Cinderella Eco Group. Our waterless, sustainable incinerating toilets can be installed in vulnerable natural areas without a negative footprint for the environment and the outcome is only a handful of ash, free from dangerous bacteria and pathogens. Being able to offer toilets that do not waste the world's precious water resources means that our incineration technology, may help to create solutions for the future.
No one should be left behind
This year's theme is "Leave no one behind". Vulnerable groups - women, children, refugees, indigenous people, people with disabilities and many others - often face acts of violence or are overlooked and discriminated against when trying to access and manage the safe waters they need.
UN Water reports devastating statistics:
- 1.8 billion people drink water from sources that are occasionally contaminated with feces.
- 4.5 billion people lack access to safe sanitation
- Over 1.6 million people die each year of diseases caused by failing sanitary conditions
- More than 700 children under five years of age die every day from diarrhea linked to unsafe water and poor sanitation.
There are still billions of people without access to clean water and safe sanitation - their households, schools, jobs, farms and factories struggle to survive and thrive.
Access to clean water is your human right
UN Water's powerful message declares: No matter who you are and where you are, access to clean water is your human right. Access to sanitation and safe water is the very foundation of a well-functioning public health system and is therefore critical for achieving sustainable development in a stable and prosperous world. World Water Day has highlighted this goal every year on March 22nd , since it was adopted by the UN in 1992.
We will never succeed as a global community while so many people live without safe water. World Water Day is about solving the water crisis and identifying and taking action against the reasons why so many people are left behind.
World Water Day, March 22nd, means a lot to us at Cinderella Eco Group, maybe you also want to get involved?
